Artist Statement
Just as a caveman who once recorded his world with the tools o f his time, I see myself as a modern caveman, documenting what I witness in today’s digital age through the means available t o me. My intention i s not t o leave a manifesto for the future.
Each generation will define its own truth. From the moment I began to understand myself as an artist, I let go of the desire to “speak for the future.” What matters to m e now is to observe and reflect the spirit of my time, the Spirit of Time that lives through us.
In my practice, I’m drawn t o the tension between visibility and silence, freedom and control. I seek to capture the layers of perception shaped by our digital lives, exploring how they affect the way we see, share, and remember. Ultimately, my work is a meditation on presence, on what is seen, what is hidden, and how the fragments of our era come together to form meaning. This idea began in my Self-portrait series and continues to guide in my upcoming projects.
About me
Siavash Sufi Nejad is a visual artist and designer from architect background. Over the past years, he has received several accolades for his designs, including the ftNFT Award European Product Design Award, IDA Design Competition, Sit Furniture Design Award, Paris Design Award (DNA), and A’ Design Awards (2023). He has had several speeches at international conferences on architecture and design. Sufi’s work is distinguished by its fusion of traditional Middle Eastern art and modern design. He often incorporates organic materials such as wood, stone, and metal in his creations, giving them a contemporary touch. His designs are characterized by minimalism and elegance, paired with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship. His innovative and timeles artworks are known for creating both beautiful and functional that leave a lasting impression on the art world. He, as an Iranian artist, aspires to promote peace for the people of the globe. His mission is achieving the dream, to bridge cultures from the Middle East to other parts of the world through design and art.
Artist Profile
Siavash Sufi Nejad is a n Iranian-born visual artist based i n London. whose practice moves fluidly between memory, material, and technology. With a background in architecture and experience in design, he gradually turned his focus toward visual art, following a personal path that connects the past and the present in thoughtful and evolving ways.
Through sculpture, mirror works, animations, NFTs, and textile-based works, Sufi Nejad explores how traditional materials and contemporary techniques can come together to tell new visual stories. In his recent projects, the pixel has become a key motif, first a s a sign of the digital age, and later as a metaphor for censorship and fragmented identity. This idea appears most clearly in his Self-Portrait series, which also opens a bridge toward his future explorations.
