This very unique lay out at Tehran’s prestigious location, mesmerised the audience.
Mr. Siavash Sufi Nejad the CEO and founder of Sufi Gallery has the vision that design can be perceived as a masterpiece art just in the same way that an art piece can be.
“Intersect 01” curated by Sama Ashrafi the art director at Sufi Gallery, show cased a collection of master piece fine art by the modernist and contemporary Iranian artists such as: Bahman Mohasess. Jazeh Tabatabaie, Parviz Tanavoli, Mohsen Vaziri Moghadam, Farideh Lashayi, Masoud Arabshahi, Manouchehr Yektai, Reza Derakhshani, Siavash Sufi Nejad, Kambiz Sabri , Parvaneh Etemadi, Marcos Grigorian and many more.
What was outstanding to see was the way the masterpiece artworks were very similar to what you see at the
International auction houses such as Sotheby’s, Bonhams and Christie’s that took place only a few days before this exhibition, which made this particular event into an almost Masterpiece Auction in Tehran!
The combination of these artworks alongside designer furniture limited edition pieces by “Renowned Architects” and Product designers such as Kamran Afshar Naderi, Soheil Rad ,Alireza Emtiaz, Saqar khakdan ,Shirin Ehya, Asal Abbasi, has curated a space with such harmony that astonished the collectors.
The intersection of this multidisciplinary exhibition has formed a new prospective for the traditional art collector, to be able to value a design piece just as much as a masterpiece fine art on a wall.
“A work of art or a practical design is simply the interpretation of wisdom, thoughts, lived experience and the passion of the creator.
Some of these works are created to meet the needs and others have the desire to achieve a more beautiful world”, Sufi Gallery states in their manifesto.
The question is what is the unity between them?
This exhibition is an adventure between interdisciplinary artworks where product designers, painters and sculptors display their works side by side. At Sufi Gallery, they believe that the contemporary and modern era of art should be defined with a wider perspective and attract a wider audience, architects, painters, industrial designers and sculptors.
The curator tend to believe that art has become public and is a part of everyday life. Sufi Gallery believes that art is a part of lifestyle these days and through the contemporary fast paced way of living people want to see it everywhere. On their walls , on their floors, on their furniture and on their flower vases.
Whilst most of the events focus on the form of the artworks and its aesthetic aspects, this multidisciplinary show has adopted an approach based on storytelling to return “the spirit of the times” into the works. In this exhibition, Mr. Siavash Sufi Nejad tries to express the vision of looking at art with everyday “Eye” and make it approachable for the audience.
Sufi Gallery is planning to continue with the sequence of these extraordinary exhibitions in the next year and getting ready for “Intersect 02” which is yet to be another great surprise.
